The same names after it ships

Embedding is easy to sell and easy to fake. A vendor Slack channel named “partners,” a weekly slot, a rotating cast. That is not a crew. A crew has names, access, and a seat in the repo. They hear the stand-up. They are in the incident channel when it is not a demo day.

We join that way or we do not join. No parallel process. If it does not land in the repo, it did not happen. The difference — the one clients actually keep us for — is what happens after the first ship.

Launch is a Tuesday

Launch is when the real traffic arrives and the assumptions get expensive. The shops that treated go-live as the encore have already reassigned the people who remember why the queue is shaped that way. You are left with a warranty email and a bench you have never met.

Our rule is simple: if we cannot support it after launch, we do not start. Support is not a ticket pile in another timezone. It is pairing, runbooks, and the same people who wrote the first slice. Monthly capacity after a build. The same stack. Your hours, not a follow-the-sun fiction.

What “stay” looks like

It looks like a named crew in the contract, not “up to twenty hours of mixed seniority.” It looks like we are still in the channel when a Friday night booking breaks, when a city goes live and the catalog gets ugly, when the ramp gets noisy and the dashboard is what the shift lead is actually watching. Those are not hypotheticals. That is the work.

It also looks like we write the next owner into the system: the runbook, the dangerous queries, the flags, the thing you should not restart. We are not trying to become a permanent department you cannot fire. We are trying to be the studio you can still call — the same names — when the product is in the world and the original brief is a year old.

How an engagement ends

Some products need us for a spike and a decision. Some need a year. We do not vanish to force the shorter one. We shrink when the product can stand, and we remain on the line if it cannot. You will not get a zip file and a smile. You will get a log, a crew that still answers, and a clear sentence about what we are still responsible for.

They hired us once. They kept us on. That is the studio we meant to be when we started in 2018, and it is still the only shape we will staff.
